Relocating to the British Virgin Islands.

February 2019, 2am. I was sat in the kitchen feeling so proud and accomplished that I had managed to squeeze all my belongings into just 4 suitcases that were splayed out across the floor. In just a few hours, I would be on a plane to the Caribbean to start an entirely new life in the British Virgin Islands! I hardly slept a wink being so excited for what was to come, I had so many questions running through my head, so many things I had been looking forward to.. and they were all about to happen! 

My lovely Dad drove me to Gatwick airport where we said our goodbyes, this was the part I was dreading. I had spent just over a month touring the UK to say goodbye to all the gorgeous, kind and caring scallywags I'm lucky enough to call my friends, but I knew the moment I said goodbye to Dad would be the moment it all got that bit more real. After lots of tears and even more hugs I made my way into the airport ready for my big adventure. Boarding the plane and settling into my window seat with headphones at the ready,  my excitement grew as London became smaller and smaller. It wasn't long at all before the view of tall skyscrapers, became that of even taller mountains and hills covered in luscious green palms, the river Thames was now the Caribbean Sea, rich in every shade of blue you could ever imagine. It was beautiful, it was paradise.

By nightfall it was time to collect my luggage and head to Trellis Bay where a boat was waiting to take me to my new home. I loaded the boat with my 4 suitcases (they had come a long way from the kitchen this morning!), wrapped myself in a towel so not to get wet and set off across the sea. I honestly didn't think the BVI could get any more beautiful and at first I was slightly worried that my first Caribbean boat ride was going to be in the dark but my goodness I was wrong! The moon was beaming so brightly it made each wave sparkle, the sky was like nothing I had seen before, the stars were bigger and twinkling. I looked down at the sea and saw bioluminescent plankton glowing as the waves continued to flow from the boat. It was magic. Never in a million years did I ever imagine experiencing something like that. Those moments belong in dreams and Disney movies, yet here I was. Feeling very overwhelmed and with a few happy tears in my eyes (ok, a lot of tears!) I saw my friends waving at the dock waiting to greet me.. is this real life!? 

After unpacking the suitcases, I jumped in the shower (my new shower) and settled into bed (my new bed!), there was no way I was going to sleep any time soon. I was so high on life, my friends had decorated my room with "welcome home" banners, and left a bottle of champagne on ice which of course excited me even more. I just couldn't believe it, I'm here, this is it, my Caribbean life has officially started and I can not wait for what's to come! 

I hope this post inspires you to go for what you're dreaming about right now, I'm not saying its easy, nor am I claiming to be the expert, and trust me there will be plenty of blog posts coming your way to prove that! But life is so so short.. just go for it!
